AFN (Armed Forces Network)
A normal American NTSC or multisystem television is required.

AFN has come along way in the past few years, and does not deserve the criticism some people give it! With only 8 channels it shows 99% American programming from networks like CBS, ABC, FOX, ESPN and many others. More and more shows are up to date. Many events such as the Superbowl are live. I have worked closely with Col. Sheppard (who was one of the original people to launch AFN via satellite) when it was first transmitting on Eutelsat 16 Degrees, then later moved to Hotbird 13 Degrees.

The AFN Decoder is available ONLY from AAFES Power Zones, or secondhand ones from Americans PCSing, (check the Scientific Atlantic receiver was paid for if you are buying secondhand!)

As long as you are an active ID card holder, AAFES will rent the decoder to you for $25.00 per month. Or you can buy the receiver outright, with NO monthly fee for $279.00. Either way you will need a satellite dish and have it professionally installed and aligned.
